KFC and the Secret Recipe to Success

Everyone who has been successful throughout history, both in the Kingdom and outside the Kingdom, have this in common. You can have everything else in your bag but if you don’t have this in your bag, then the success you desire will be wearing a T- shirt with a “Question Mark” on it.

The Story behind the rise of KFC:-
Colonel Sanders, the man behind KFC, has a story to tell you. Not a story filled with victories but a story filled with failures and heartbreaks. When He was 5 years old, his father died. Lost your Father or Mother? He did too. He got married at 19 and his relationship with his wife ended up in a divorce. Had a divorce, Had a break up? He did too. He had a son who died from infected tonsils. Have you lost a loved one? Have you met the grave? He did too.

He got a job at the railroad, then lost it over a fight. He entered Law and his career there ended over another fight. Then, he got a job in an insurance company but was kicked out later. He started a Ferry boat company, didn’t work. He got to work as tire salesman and lost it as every other job. He ran a service station for a time which was beaten down by the Great Depression. Then started another, which got burned down. He ended up starting a restaurant-motel which was killed by World War 2. Lost your job? Failed in your career? Everybody around you thinks you are a failure? He went through it all too.

After that, He worked as a Assistant Cafeteria Manager for 10 years. At the age of 65, started going around from restaurant to restaurant trying to sell his chicken recipe. Rejection after Rejection for the recipe was the result of a Old man running around from restaurant to restaurant and sleeping in his car.

Rest of the Story is History. As one of the top fast food chain restaurants in the World, KFC has taken over the Food Market as a Giant. As of December 2013, KFC has 18,875 outlets in 118 countries. KFC has more than 395 outlets in India.

The Secret Recipe:
I don’t know the secret recipe of KFC chicken but I know the secret recipe to the success of the Man behind KFC. Perseverance is the secret recipe that gave birth to KFC and made a man who was sealed as a failure to become one of the successful figures in the history of mankind. Failures and Heartbreaks hit him from all sides, yet He didn’t quit. He kept going, no matter what and that’s why the world gets to taste KFC chicken now. Every time he failed, he would have heard a voice in his mind screaming-“QUIT”, he ignored that voice and kept going.
When you take the Give Up-Option from your life, you can climb higher than your wildest dreams. Perseverance will take you where everything else can’t take you.

We do not want you to become lazy. Be like those who through faith and patience(perseverance, don’t give up) will receive what God has promised. Hebrews 6:12(NCV)(Emphasis mine)

Note: Perseverance is also translated as Patience in the New testament. While Patience is passive, Perseverance is active. My personal belief is that some the words that have been translated as patience should have been translated as perseverance.

Mastering the Art of Perseverance:-
The devil, your archenemy has mastered the art of perseverance. He doesn’t quit tempting and intimidating people. You resist Him and He pops his head out again. If you are someone who quits easily, then the devil will push you till you quit because he knows that without perseverance you won’t last in the battle. But if you are someone who never quits, then hell will teach lessons about you in their training sessions.

You can have Love but if you lack perseverance, your love will fail when the temperature goes up. You can have Faith but if you lack perseverance, you can’t become a Mountain-Mover because it takes persistent faith to move some mountains. You can have wisdom but if you lack perseverance, then you won’t see much results. You have to stand your ground in Love, in Faith, with Wisdom to go beyond the stars. Persevering, Standing your ground is the Key that unlocks every door that stays closed before your nose.

Learning from the Saints of the Past:-
If Israelites had persevered a little more, they would have entered the promised land. If Abraham and Sarah had persevered in faith without sidetracking, then Ishmael would not have come and the People of Israel would be free from their archenemy.

David had a prophecy spoken over His life but He didn’t become a King overnight. It took years and He had to endure a lot in all those years. He didn’t throw his hands up and say-“God, you are a Big Bad Liar. You said I will be a King and now I’m living in caves. What More, I have a Psychopath King chasing me to kill me. I quit. Choose someone else, I’m Off”. He persevered, He didn’t turn His back on God as things didn’t work out as He expected. He didn’t quit even though He was going through hell. Winston Churchill once said-“If you are going through hell, continue going”. David did and ascended into the throne. As a Man after God’s own heart, He knew that perseverance was an important element in God’s formula.

Our Master Jesus, persevered through the brutal crucifixion. If not for His perseverance, we would be lost in darkness. The way was opened, the door was opened and hope was given to mankind because of the perseverance of Jesus. Everything in your being shouts-“QUIT”, it happened to Jesus, but if you just hold on a little longer like Jesus, you will see great results. Jesus focused on the other side of the cross to stand strong, do that. Focus on what you are dreaming about, what you are believing for, what you are expecting to happen. Focus on the result and it will give you fuel to go through the process.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with “perseverance” the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he “endured” the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1,2(NIV)

The Advancing Kingdom:-
I’m not a KFC promoter, I’m a Kingdom promoter. Jesus spoke about the Kingdom, more than 100 times and it’s all about the King and His Kingdom. Perseverance is the key to advance the Kingdom of God in a explosive way. If you call yourself a Christian, you have a job in the Kingdom. You have the job to advance the Kingdom on planet earth.

You are someone who has worked for God in the past or working for God now or want to work for God. You feel bad that no one recognizes you, you feel bad that your Church doesn’t give you opportunities to serve God, you feel bad that you didn’t get the results you desired in ministry. No matter what has happened and what is happening, don’t quit. Keep serving God, Keep sowing even though you see nothing because a plant doesn’t burst out immediately after sowing, it takes time. It takes time, so keep sowing, you will reap an harvest for sure. You are a world changer, don’t quit because the world needs you. The people who must be touched by you are waiting for you to show up. Just show up even if you don’t feel like doing it. Don’t quit, stay there and you will be doing greater works for God in no time.

You have prayed for the sick without results, don’t give up because some of the Leaders in the Kingdom who operate powerfully in healing, failed 100’s of times before seeing their first miracle. You have done everything to lead your family to Christ, keep doing because one of the Giant of the Past persevered for the salvation of some but they all got saved only after his death. Your Marriage is not improving? Your Child is not coming to God? Your Church is not growing? Don’t quit.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest “if we do not give up”. Galatians 6:9(NIV)

Don’t quit:-
You may have a million reasons to quit but find just one reason to stay in the race and keep running. It is hard on you, I understand, but what you want is just on the other side of the mountain. You have persevered till now, continue to do so, you will see the Hand of God. When the devil knocks at your door, asking you to quit, answer the door by knocking his teeth off. Roar at him-“I’m not quitting. I’m still in the game. Watch me play, devil”.

Insert perseverance to every area of your life and you will live a life that will be applauded by heaven. Ask every successful person out there, ask the saints of the past, ask Jesus. Perseverance opens doors that can’t be opened otherwise. Perseverance will take you where nothing else can take you. Capture Perseverance and you will go higher than your wildest dreams. What are you gonna do??….

I like the comparison here, however I don’t think Colonel was a man of faith ; but we able to achieve so much inspite of the lack of it ,one might be tempted to think if it can done without believing in God ,so a thought on how faith on God is significant and how it is superior to perseverance from a human perspective could have made it better. But a very encouraging thought!! God Bless

    Hello Brother 🙂
    1. Jesus used seeds, trees, blah blah blah to teach spirituality. So I don’t think it is wrong to use Mr.Sanders.
    2. This Post is on Perseverance and this guy fitted in. Mother Teresa fits in the Love category but I can’t toss her off just because she is Catholic. They can have crazy beliefs but We don’t know about their personal relationship with God. Everyone is created by God and we can learn from them in spite of their beliefs. We can even learn from Judas, what not to do.
    3. Lot of things can be achieved without God, which is true because God designed man that way, God had to stop the guys building the Tower of Babel. But success and achievements don’t bring us to God. I have put emphasis on God and His Kingdom but as you said there is not a direct statement on the superiority of Faith in God. I will try to fit it somewhere, thanks for the add.
    4. Good news for you, Colonel was touched by God in a revival that broke out in a Assembly of God church. I forgot to add the info to the post, I have now.
Thank you Andrew for sharing your view 🙂 . Love, Kenneth…
