Cry of a Gentile

crying outGentile-believers cry out to God-“Lord, why? Why is this happening to me?”. Why are these gentile-believers crying out to God?. What is happening in the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ?. Before you join me in this journey, let me define you certain terms-

Jews- Born Christians (people born into a Christian family)

Jewish Christians-Born Again Christians (people born in a Christian family then later born again into God’s family after believing  and accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior)

Gentile Believers-Born Again Christians (people born in a Non-Christian family but believed and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior).

The Plot:

I was born in a Non-Christian family. (That’s not my mistake). I accepted Jesus at a very young age. I became a Gentile Believer. I have preached in my school assembly as a little girl. I Loved Jesus. That’s not all of it. I was persecuted by my Non-Christian society for reading the Bible and talking about Jesus. They were offended as I refused to bow to their gods.

I had to get out of my Non-Christian society to enjoy freedom in my walk with Jesus. There are a lot of Gentile Believers out there who also need a break out to enjoy freedom to worship God. What is the way out? During our school and college days, we are depended on our parents. During our working days, we have to submit to them.

What is the way out then? Marriage. Marriage is the way to get out of our family and move into another family. For a Gentile Believer, this can be their way out into a life of freedom to worship God. (There are other ways too)

The day for my break-out came. God led me to a Man of God. I was excited about my marriage with a Man of God and as I was waiting for my freedom lot of unexpected incidents took place? I thought all Christians will be like Christ who received everyone who came to Him. Little did I know what I was about to face.

Pastors Vs Pastors:

The Bible says everyone is one in Christ. Lots of sermons are preached on it. But is the Church following it?

Long before our marriage, My Husband was in this particular Church and the Pastor said in his sermon-“When it comes to marriage why do you all run to find a bride in the southern towns like nagercoil? You go there so you get lot of money? I have Christian girls from Non-Christian families crying to me –“Pastor what will I do if I get married to a Non-Christian?”.  Who will marry them?”. My Husband was happy to hear these words and God had a plan to unite Him with me, a gentile believer.

Another Pastor called my husband and they had the following conversation:

Pastor: Kenneth, you must not marry that girl?

My Husband: Why Pastor? She is a Christian and I know it is God’s will.

Pastor: But she is from a Non-Christian family and you are a pastor’s son. You must not marry her.

My Husband: Pastor, Where is this in the Bible?

Pastor:????

I was baptized long before my wedding but I was asked by a pastor to get baptized again as I had a Non-Christian name.

There were Christians who received me with joy but there were many who rejected me with hatred. Some didn’t even consider me as a human being. They looked down on my husband too for marrying me. My Husband says that most of the Christians who rejected us are not saved yet. In my Husband’s words-“Being born in a Christian Family doesn’t make you a Christian.” Take time to read his post-http://holyspiritrevolution.com/born-again-christian-vs-born-christianare-you-saved/

What does the Bible say? :

  • The Bible says that we are “one” in Christ. A Christian from a Christian family and a Christian from a Non-Christian family are “one”.
  • The Bible says that those who believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior are saved. It doesn’t say- you have to be born in a Christian family to be a Christian.
  • The Bible says that you must marry a born-again Christian. That includes Christians with a Non-Christian background.

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.Galatians 3:28(NLT)

No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.Romans 2:29(NIV)

Truth hidden in the Old Testament:

In the Old Testament, every foreigner who got circumcised was considered to be a Jew. He was allowed to take part in the festivals of the Jews. Circumcision in the body is symbolic of the circumcision of the heart by the Spirit (salvation). So, everyone who is circumcised by the Holy Spirit is a Christian.

“A foreigner residing among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land.Exodus 12:48(NIV)

Christ accepts everyone who is circumcised by the Spirit but why do Christians reject them?. I had my break-out from my Non-Christian society and I’m married to a Christian but there are lot of gentile believers out there who don’t know what to do. They are persecuted by their family for their faith. Who will accept them? Who will rise up for them? Who will stand against these Unbiblical practices?
