Why You Can’t Partner with a Ministry by sending offerings?

You would have heard Preachers asking you to partner with their ministry saying-“Sow your seed into our ministry as we take the Gospel to the nations”. The concept behind it is that as you partner with them by giving money; it is as if you are a part of the Ministry that is taking the Gospel to the nations. You can also be someone who is a partner of a ministry or more. You can be a monthly partner or an occasional sower. Whoever or Whatever, I want you to rethink what you believe in this. Just because something is popular doesn’t make it the truth. Just because your favorite preacher does it, doesn’t mean it is right. I have already written so much that has made Pastors and Ministry Leaders mad, that they want to crucify me. Especially, when it comes to money, people get uncomfortable. I have already written on “Tithes and Offerings” and “Sowing your Seed”. Now I’m ready to shoot the next arrow.

Partnering with Ministries Vs Doing Ministry:-

The Bible has nothing to do with this concept of “becoming a partner of a ministry by giving money”. The Bible talks about giving to the poor, giving to those in need, giving to those who preach the Gospel, giving to those who feed you spiritually, giving to churches that are in need, etc. Giving is one of the most blessed acts in the Kingdom. Giving must be done out of Love for God and Love for people, not with any other hidden motive. Wait…I’m not done yet. Giving offerings to those who preach the Gospel is good. Giving money to those who do the Work of the Lord is wonderful. But what you have to understand is this- If you give offering, it just means you have given offering, nothing else. It doesn’t mean anything else. It doesn’t mean you are taking the Gospel to the nations. It just means you are giving money to someone who is taking the Gospel to the nations. The Preacher may say otherwise but Heaven just sees you as someone who has given money and not as someone who is carrying the Gospel.

What does the Bible say? :-

Everyone in the Church is called to do the work of the Lord. Giving offerings doesn’t make you someone who is doing the Work of the Lord. Giving offerings is good and wonderful and you must do it, but there is something more important than that- YOU DOING THE WORK OF THE LORD. Everyone in the Church is called to Share the Gospel, heal the sick, drive out demons, prophesy and set people free. I said “EVERYONE” and that includes you. If you are just sending offerings and thinking you are doing the work of the Lord, you are deceived. Dropping offerings and tithes in your Church helps your Pastor and ministry team do the work, that won’t get credited into your account. Giving offerings to ministries and Getting into the field to do the Work of the Lord are two different things. You may not be taking the Gospel to the nations but you can do the Work of the Lord wherever you are- in your community, in your office or educational institute, in your church, in a village nearby, in your hometown, in the streets or wherever. Send offerings to ministries, support men and women of God but don’t stop with that, you get off your seat and do the work of the Lord. You will be rewarded for giving but you will receive no rewards for doing the work of the Lord, if you just sit back and do nothing. Give and Do. Do and Give. There is an age old saying that goes like this-“One prays, One gives and One goes”. It sounds good but it is not true. Everyone is called to pray, Everyone is called to give and Everyone is called to Go.

“All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU”. Matthew 28:18-20

The First disciples were asked to teach the new believers to obey everything Jesus had commanded them. They were instructed to pass on the commands and everyone who gets added in the Church was required to obey the commands given to the first disciples. Are you getting it? If no, go and wash your face, come back and read again. Jesus gave lot of commands to His first disciples; all of those apply to you now but now let’s just focus on the above mentioned verses. There are some commands in these verses, which Jesus gave to His disciples and then asked them to transfer to everyone who gets added to the Church.

Here are the commands-“GO, MAKE DISCIPLES, BAPTISE AND TEACH”. Theses commands apply to every Christian. C’mon…You don’t have to be a Missionary or an Evangelist to GO, if you are a Christian you have to GO. You don’t need a special anointing to MAKE DISCIPLES, if you are a believer you have everything you need to MAKE DISCIPLES. You don’t have to be Pastor to BAPTIZE new believers; if you are a believer you CAN and MUST BAPTIZE new believers. (Oooppsss..I believe that was a hard low-blow to many, that’s a different story). You don’t have to go to Bible school or be a Bible teacher to TEACH, if you are Christian you have the Holy Spirit in you and He will enable you to TEACH. You can’t obey these commands by giving money to someone who is obeying these commands. You can obey these commands only by doing them.

Leaders and Believers:-

The Church has been separated into-“Leaders and believers. Full-time ministers and normal believers. Folks who work for the expansion of the Church and Folks who come to church every week”. The popular belief is that some have a special anointing from God and they are called to do the Work of the Lord, while the remaining are normal people who come to Church, sing songs, listen to sermons, give money and live normal lives, working and making money. I’m so sorry but this is a demonic belief. In the Kingdom, everyone is anointed. Every believer is called and appointed to do the work of the Lord. Not everyone is called to be an Apostle or a Pastor but everyone is called to live like Jesus. It would not be an exaggeration to say that EVERYONE IS CALLED TO MINISTRY.

Everyone who claims to be a Christian must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6(Living like Jesus means doing what Jesus did, that’s what we call ministry and every Christian is called to do ministry)

We are Gold medalists in reading a part of a verse and swallowing the remaining. When Paul lists the 5-FOLD MINISTRIES, people’s eyes are open but when He mentions the PURPOSE OF THE 5-FOLD MINISTRIES, people’s eyes are shut. Keep your eyes open, I want you to get this.

“It was He who gave some to be Apostles, some to be Prophets, some to be Evangelists, and some to be Pastors and Teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service so that the Body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”. Ephesians 4:11-13.

What are the 5-Fold Ministries or Who are the 5-Fold ministers? :- Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.

What is the Purpose of giving the 5-fold ministry to the Church:- Most people think “to do ministry” but the Bible says “to equip or train believers to do ministry”.

“to prepare God’s people for works of service”- This is what the Bible says. This is the Job description of every leader in the Church. A Leader is appointed by Jesus to train the believers to do ministry, equip everyone in the Church to do the works of the Kingdom. Everyone…Everyone. At the end of the day, Leaders do ministry and train others to do ministry and everyone in the Church is doing ministry. Most Leaders who take over the pulpit in our Churches are so insecure to train others in the work of the Lord. What they don’t understand is that their primary job is to train and equip others and if they don’t do it, they don’t qualify as a leader in the eyes of heaven.

Do Something:

Doing Something is better than doing nothing. Just sending offerings to TV preachers, dropping tithes and offerings in your Church won’t do. You have to get out and do the work of the Lord. Start somewhere. Share the Gospel to your friends, Start a prayer meeting, Invite people who need prayer for healing, Feed the hungry, Get a Home to take care of the Homeless. Do something. If all you do is send offerings, those preachers will be rewarded for taking the Gospel to the nations and touching lives, you will get nothing in heaven. Get off your house and do something.

Do send offerings to missionaries but you start going on a mission, Do send offerings to those who are taking the Gospel to the nations but you also start taking the Gospel wherever you can. Don’t stop dropping offerings in your Church but God wants you to serve people with your hands and legs. Give and Do. Do and Give. You will be rewarded for both doing and going. What more, God created you with a purpose. Callings and Anointings are not just for the folks on Stage. You are called, You are anointed. He has put a dream on the inside of you and He wants to use you powerfully for His Glory. You are a World Changer. You don’t have the Holy Spirit’s cousin brother in you, You have the Same Holy Spirit who shook the world through Jesus and His apostles. If someone tells you otherwise, ask them to read their Bible properly. Don’t settle for offerings, Don’t be satisfied with giving. You have a position in God’s army, don’t sit back, find your place and start acting. Start praying along this line and God will lead you to touch lives. Start running; you have an assignment to finish. I’m talking to YOU.

P.S:- If you have been blessed by my ministry and by my writings, please send me your hearts, mouths, hands and legs as offerings. I want you to get into the field, serve people and expand the Kingdom.
