Born again for a Mission

The Church of Jesus Christ has been divided into two by man-people who serve God called Leaders and people who attend Church called “Believers”(Just a believer). God has a different view of His Church. Someone must be wrong and it’s not God. Let’s see what God’s Word says:

Salvation is not just for Heaven:

If you were saved just for Heaven, God must have taken you to Heaven the moment you got saved. God doesn’t transport people to heaven immediately but leaves them on earth as citizens of heaven to release heaven on earth.

Saved for Good works, not by Good works:

We Christians brag so much about God’s grace in salvation that we forget God’s grace given to us to do His work (Ephesians 4:7). Both are equally important. The well-known passage in the Bible about salvation doesn’t end with “saved by grace through faith”, it goes on to say that you were saved to do good works. Jesus saved you so that you will do His work on earth.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, “created(saved) in Christ Jesus to do good works”, which “God prepared in advance for us to do”. Ephesians 2:8-10(NIV)

Special and specific assignment:

Ephesians 2:8-10 says that we are saved not by works but by grace and we are saved to do good works/deeds. A clear look into the passage will show you that the good works you are to do were prepared or decided by God in advance. God has an action plan for your life prepared in advance.

Church is called the body of Christ and every part of the body is important and has its own “unique” functions. What if I ask you to choose your favorite finger and cut off the remaining ones? How about sitting before your T.V set with no eyes on your sockets. Horrible huh? This is the horrible condition of the Church. Paul says that Church grows as every part does its work. If you are part of the Body of Christ, you have a function-a unique work to do. Pause and think about my previous statement. Now, Are you performing your function-your unique work in the Church for Christ?. Pause again!

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As “each part” does its “own special work”, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16(NLT)

General assignment:

Every Christian has a special, unique assignment from heaven but that’s not all of it. Every Christian has a general (common) assignment from Jesus, our Boss. Every Christian, no matter what denomination you belong to, you have to do the general assignment you have received from Jesus. Jesus before He ascended said-

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel…..And these signs will follow those who believe(Christians): In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;…..they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover-Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15-18(NKJV)

Jesus was dead-serious when He uttered those words because He was leaving and they would be the last words He could utter before sitting down in Heaven. Jesus drops the dynamite by stating the signs that will follow the believers- Preach the Gospel, Tongues, Healing the sick, Casting out demons (If you don’t believe in tongues or Miracles, you better read your Bible properly and forget your denominational codes because Jesus has a problem with your denomination’s codes). If this shocked you off, you dare not read John 14:12 where Jesus says that those who have faith in Him will do greater works than Him.

Welcome to reality-The question every Christian will face:

Every Christian has a call from God, a general and a specific assignment from heaven. One day you will stand before God and He is not going to ask you-“Son did you earn more money. How many degrees do you have? Did you clean your room properly?”. Even though these things are good, He has an important question to ask you- “My Beloved, I died for you on the cross. Did you finish the assignment I gave you?”. You can Facebook and tweet that you love Jesus, but the Bible says “if” you love Jesus you will do what He commands. (Oops that hurts!)

You have a heavenly assignment, a divine purpose, a God-devised plan for your life. You are part of God’s Church Mission. Your success in Heaven’s eyes is different. Find your work and finish it before you hit the grave. Live life the real way! Mission on!
